Ilife 06 Free Download Mac

In my review of iMovie HD 6 ( ), I predicted that Apple, as it did with iLife ’05, would soon release a bug-fix update to address some of the glitches I encountered. And true to form, Apple’s. Apr 21, 2016 Apple only let you download iMovie '06 free because iMovie '08 didn't include some of the features of iMovie '06 had, such as video effects and audio editing. But then Apple brought all of those features in iMovie '09.

Mac and iOS users with old hardware can now get some of Apple's fundamental software for free. According to a report from MacRumors, the iWork and iLife suite of apps, including iMovie, Numbers, Keynote, Pages, and GarageBand for Mac and iOS, are now listed as free in the App Store.

Previously, users with old hardware had to pay for each app. Individual programs cost between $5 and $20 each, which would add up if a user with an old Mac or iOS device wanted to download and use both suites. In 2013, Apple made iWork and iLife apps free for new Mac and iOS customers, but that meant you had to purchase a new Apple device before you could download any of those apps at no cost. Until now, users with hardware released before 2013 still had to pay for iWork and iLife if they hadn't made a new Apple purchase recently.

Now there's no more confusion surrounding the availability of Apple's basic apps. Anyone with old Apple devices can download the latest versions of iWork and iLife apps for free with no strings attached. It might be too little, too late for some; Apple's App Store is so vast that users with old hardware probably found iWork- and iLife-equivalents to use. While we don't know if future updates of iWork and iLife apps will be compatible with all old devices, it's worthwhile to download the latest versions now.

iMovie

iMovie is a video editing software developed by Apple that allows users to edit their own videos. It comes pre-installed on all new Macs and the current version is iMovie '11. It is fairly easy to learn and the application offers many templates for ease of editing. Users can add video, photos, sound effects, music, transitions, and other effects of their choice to their projects. View Apple's iMovie video showcase to find out more.

The iMovie '11 Project Book is a good resource to get new users started or give experienced users new ideas on how to use iMovie.

Switch to a Mac outlines what iMovie allows users to do:
  • Easily import footage from digital camcorders and still cameras (that support video capture)
  • Organize your video in a central repository, across your Mac or on external hard drives
  • Gather, view, edit, and share your edited movie files
  • Create movie files that include music, sound effects, themes, menus, titles, transitions, and other effects
  • Save your edited movies onto physical media such as a DVD, CD or as a file on a hard drive
  • Share your movies on the Internet through services such as MobileMe Gallery, YouTube, and personal web sites

History
iMovie was first released in 1999. Since iMovie 3, the third version of the product, iMovie has been bundled in Apple's iLife suite. When iMovie '08 was released, it was highly criticized. Among other things, it did not include a timeline, it's audio features were unflattering, and Apple removed all of the special effects in effort to produce movies quickly. Customers were so unhappy that Apple offered free downloads of iMovie 6 HD, their previous version, to those customers who bought iMovie '08. The most recent update includes ability to use the application on the iPad 2, iPhone 4, iPhone 4S, and iPod Touch 4th generation.
This handy table taken from Wikipedia outlines the evolution of iMovie quite nicely.

Current Software
Apple released it's newest edition of iMovie (named iMovie '11) on October 20, 2010. The upgrade brought many new features to the table. The most exciting of which is the advanced audio editing controls. The current version is 9.0.4 and has a download size of 585.02 MB. The software can be purchased from Apple for $14.99.
Mac World takes a closer look at the newest edition of iMovie. Their Pros and Cons list is a little tech specific, but gives educated users an idea of what to look for in the newest edition.

    • Improved audio editing
    • Fun Movie Trailers, which can be converted to projects
    • Support for 24p footage
    • One-Step Effects automate repetitive edits
    • Side-by-Side and Blue Screen edit options
    • Rolling Shutter fix (results vary depending on footage)
    • Single-Row View brings back traditional timeline

    • Pre-processing and import transcoding can be time-consuming
Examples of iMovie
The first video is a good example project because it is one that was made to show the different abilities of iMovie. I like how the user demonstrated different effects and used many different font styles throughout the project. He used the scrapbook project theme as a template for his short video.

iMovie Trailer

This second example is a good example of using iMovie's trailer feature. The creator of this project used clips from the popular British television show Top Gear to highlight one specific episode the crew took to Africa. The music, slide transitions, text effects, and clip timings are already pre-set; the user just has to input their desired information and clips and presto! A movie trailer is born.
